Gracia Gardens

Upon my return to Nairobi my organization put me up in a guest house in the Hurlingham area at Gracia Gardens.  The accommodations were lovely.  They were quite full the night I came in so I lucked out with a huge triple room with a bathroom ensuite, wifi, dstv, and sitting area.  My room overlooks the pool and garden and is lovely at night with the smell of flowers wafting in and the sound of the fountain.

Location: Denis Pritt Road past Kayahwe Road (near Palacina)
Price: Lunch entrees are around 300-1000 KSH (approx. $4-$13)
Atmosphere: Serene and relaxing

Bed and breakfast are included with lodging and the morning spread is ample.  A cook is on hand to whip up any sort of eggs your heart desires and there is also a smattering of fresh fruit, cereal, and hot dishes to choose from.  Most of the guests are wazungu but many Kenyan families and business folks take lunch in the garden on the weekends.   As it is also a conference center anyone can access the restaurant for a mid-day break from the Nairobi bustle.  The garden is plush and quiet and the service is attentive.  The lunch menu has variety, however someone needs to tell the chef that salad niçoise should have tuna and not slices of mystery meat.  For those with a bigger appetite, they also provide the option of a buffet of Kenyan dishes.
